Fostering
I have always wanted to foster dogs. Fostering to me was a way to help the community and save a dogs life. The dogs at the shelter have gone through my different things, that people couldn’t image. If a dog is at the shelter for too long the could be put on “death row”, that is where they put down a dog because no one has taken it. For me it was important to give a dog another fighting chance. One thing I found out is that dogs are more forgiving than people. Some of those dogs have been through hell but when they get reduced they are very joyful.
I have fostered 3 dog, i want to foster more but its hard for my parents to bring and get the dogs from the adoption house. What got us first fostering when a brindle boxer, greyhound mix showed up at our house on Christmas Day. We could tell that she had been owned because she was well groomed and she was in ok shape. We went looking for her owner but no one claimed her, so went went to adoption house and asking if they could take her. Every place we went said we would have to foster her, so we choose the organization we like the best, Friends of the Animals (FOTA). We fostered her until she got adopted by a good family. After her we fostered 2 more, one named Jenny who was a hound mix, and the other was a small terrier that was named Skippy. I loved fostering but it was hard to say good bye.
Fostering is a huge challenge to take on. I think that it s really amazing that you did this.
